In developing a culinary Concept Store the hotel's history had a primary role to play. The offers and the design concept had to be in keeping with the overall concept of the rooms in the historic old building and, consequently, provide authentic, honest and transparent inspiration for prospective guests.
We are of the opinion that we have met the above-mentioned criteria by providing a gastronomic concept in the style of an Old Town Hotel with Viennese coffee house, Confectionery & Confiserie, roastery, fine foods and a event location. In addition, as passionate hosts we want to do justice to the fundamental and original functions of a Viennese coffee house concept in the Platzhirsch.
The tradition of Viennese coffee house culture is characterised by a very special ambience.
Typical of a Viennese coffee house are marble tables, on which coffee is served, Thonet chairs, loges, little magazine tables
and details in the interior design which are in keeping with the historic style. Coffee houses are places where ‘time and space are consumed, but only the coffee is found on the bill'.
The Viennese coffee house is known an oasis of cosiness around the globe. Traditional cafés provide temptation with their many and varied coffees, international newspapers and pastries. Since 2011 traditional Viennese coffee house culture has even been regarded as part of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Contemporary representatives of the coffee house enhance the tradition with stylish flair. Akin to the café is the Confectionery.
